Tumors of the digestive system

digestive system oncology

Cancer of the upper abdominal region includes primary liver lesions (hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma) and secondary lesions (liver metastases).

Primary tumors can also develop in the following organs of the abdominal cavity: stomach, small intestine (duodenum, jejunum and ileum), colon (right, transverse and left) and pancreas.

Tumor cells from primary cancer of the abdominal cavity (colon, ovary, etc.) can multiply in the abdominal cavity (sheets lining the abdominal cavity, pelvis, and digestive tract): this is called peritoneal carcinosis.
